Research Interest

I am a behavioral geographer and GIScientist.  My research areas lie in human-environmental interaction, how people perceive, use, and navigate space, and representation/visualization.  I use a multiple method approach, incorporating several measurement methods, as well as quantitative and qualitative data gathering and analysis.  These methods include: quantitative behavioral and abilities instruments, participant observation, interviews, focus groups, and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).

I have several current research projects funded by the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health.   I run the Spatial and Map Cognition Research Lab, please see that site for details about my and my student's current research projects.
