The First Year Geography Graduate Sequence
GEOG 609, 620 and 621 are for geography graduate students entering our program. The goals are to: (1) introduce you to the Geography faculty and professional life and expectations as a graduate student (the primary emphasis of 609); (2) launch you into the process of conceiving, planning, and conducting thesis research, (3) provide you with an overview of the development of geography as a discipline, and (4) examine issues of relevance to the professional practice of geography. There will be regular readings for each session. You be expected to prepare a literature review relevant to your thesis research question(s) in GEOG 620 and a research proposal at the end of GEOG 621.
