Lesson Plans to Use With the Virtual Tour of Guanajuato

Comparing Where We Live: Students conduct virtual fieldwork in Guanajuato, Mexico and real fieldwork in their own community. Then, they use their observations to compare the houses in the two areas.

That's What You Think!: Students use maps and prior knowledge to predict what elements of Guanajuato's cultural landscape will look like. Then, they take the virtual tour to test their predictions.

Lesson Ideas

Human-Environment Interaction in Guanajuato: Students read an article and then write and trade questions to learn about human-environment interaction in Guanajuato.

Mapping and Comparing Routes to School: Students create a map of their route to school. Then, they use the Virtual Tour of Guanajuato to compare the two routes.

Population of Mexico: National Geographic lessons for grades k-4, 5-8, and 9-12.
