Procedures

1. Have students read "It All Starts With the Land."
2. Have students write three questions from the reading, trade questions with a partner, answer their partner's questions, and then correct their partner's answers to their own questions.
3. As a class, go over the answers to the students' questions.
4. Remind students about the importance of human-environmental interaction. Ask them how the environment affected the people of Guanajuato and how the people impacted the environment.
5. Show students the maps and pictures that go with the reading.
