"The University of Oregon has put its popular Atlas of Oregon (featuring maps, graphs, charts and information on geography, recreation, economy, people and everything else you ever wanted to know about the state) on a CD-ROM. Wow."

Winner of two top awards in the international Map Design Competition for 2001 conducted by the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM). The judges of the competition were unanimous in their award of the Atlas of Oregon as the "Best in Show." The atlas also took "Best of Category" honors in the "Book and Atlas" division.

"The Atlas of Oregon (second edition) by William Loy, Stuart Allen, Aileen R.Buckley, and James E. Meacham is superb, ranking among the very best atlases ever. It has intense 3-dimensional resolution in exquisitely detailed maps (in the elegant style of Stuart Allen's Raven maps). The statistical displays are detailed, clear, often fascinating, and up-to-date. And the entire atlas is beautifully designed and produced.  I include The Atlas of Oregon ... among my very favorite atlases."

“There’s no better snapshot of Oregon in 2001, and none more beautiful…So much information, so intelligently presented—the labor, and the love, is obvious on every page.”

"The Atlas of Oregon, Second Edition, is a tour-de-force in cartography and design. Packed with fascinating information, it's also a feast for the eye, full of meticulously executed maps aglow with color and enhanced with vivid graphic detail. This book will be admired and imitated for years to come for its scholarship, utility, and beauty.”

“This is an amazing achievement. The Atlas of Oregon, with its wealth of information made accessible through beautiful maps, joins a short list of essential reference texts for our state. I plan to keep mine close at hand."

                                                                                             Oregon Senator Mark Hatfield

“The first edition of the Atlas of Oregon was a masterpiece of its genre. The second edition is that and then some. Atlas of Oregon II constitutes a new benchmark for state atlases. For atlases of all kinds, it sets daunting standards for beauty and quality in cartographic and graphic presentation. The second edition's content is simultaneously penetrating and comprehensive; its structure is coherent and instructive; its maps and diagrams are simply stunning. The team led by Loy and Allan has produced a cartographic classic.”
