Call for Posters

for the 2006 Binghamton Symposium on Geomorphology

We encourage the submission of abstracts for posters that present research on topics related to the theme of the conference.  Abstracts should be no longer than 300 words. We plan to put abstracts (text only) up on the web site and hope to also have them available at the conference, so please conform to the following format. Use 12-point font, double spacing, and one-inch margins. Begin with the title centered at top with initial capital lettering, followed by author(s) and affiliation(s).  Include an e-mail address for the corresponding author if you want to encourage communications.  Submit abstracts in digital format using MS Word, Adobe pdf, or Word Perfect format.

Poster abstracts should be submitted no later than Wednesday, September 29th, 2006 for acceptance into the program. Note that prior to September 18, our website stated the due date was Sept 20.  This was a typo - apologies to those of you for whom this created a rush.

Submit abstracts via e-mail to W. Andrew Marcus at marcus@uoregon.edu  Please, when you send the abstract by e-mail, title the abstract using your last name.  For example, a poster abstract that I submitted would be titled: Marcus-abstract.

Digital submittals are preferable, but if you  use surface mail, send your abstracts to: W. Andrew Marcus, Binghamton Posters, Department of Geography, University of Oregon, Eugene, OR 97403-1251.  Include a digital version of the abstract or CD.

For the final posters, please follow standard presentation principles for readability and the following constraints.  Use large enough fonts that the poster can be read from a distance of at least  1.0 m (~3 ft). Include the abstract in the upper left and a references section in the lower right that includes all sources used.  Posters should be no larger than 2.4 m (8 ft) wide by 1.2 m (4 ft) tall.  Easels and wall clips will be provided.

Student funds are available to help graduate students attend the conference. Preference in awarding the funds will be given to students presenting posters.
